Migraines and Strokes-What You Need to Know

Migraines are linked to strokes. Migraine sufferers who experience auras are twice as likely to suffer a stroke. Migraines are one of the most unpleasant things in life that brings me to my knees. I am sure mine are brought on by stress and also linked to the change of life symptoms I have. I am also certain they are hereditary for me i remember my mother suffering badly as did her sister. Migraines are often preceded by an “aura,” which may consist of visual disturbances such as flashing lights. The headaches are often associated with nausea, sweats, dizziness and slurred speech. Migraines are considered to be hereditary. They are not caused by stress and psychological factors. Migraines are caused by abnormal brain activity, typically brought on by certain foods, stress , or another trigger. In addition to being painful, the headaches can involve nausea , vomiting , and other symptoms. Migraines are sometimes but not always accompanied by nausea and vomiting. Some people may experience an aura. Migraines are painful, throbbing headaches that last from 4 to 72 hours. When you have a migraine, it may be so painful that you are not able to follow your normal routine or do your usual activities. Migraines are often recurring, and may be accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and visual disturbances. This type of headache occurs most often in women (approximately 75%). Migraines are common ailments, and the impact on the individual is enormous in terms of pain, lifestyle disruption, and disability.
